Bonnie Diamond, Licensed Acupuncturist, Bio
My passion is helping people get healthier. I believe in small and steady changes that lead to personal health and transformation.
In the late 80’s, I was unhappily employed as a computer programmer and was looking for meaningful work. At the same time, I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I began getting acupuncture treatments to boost my energy and strengthen my immune system. During treatments I could feel energy or “qi” or life force moving in my body. I knew I had found a modality that could help me heal and help others heal as well.
I started taking classes at the New England School of Acupuncture and spent several years studying the beautiful and ancient tradition of East Asian Medicine. At the same time I struggled with a puzzling chronic illness that waxed and waned. I learned the external skills necessary to become a practitioner and the internal teachings of the body. It proved to be a powerful combination.
At the end of a decade, I had a license to practice acupuncture, a Master’s Degree in acupuncture and full health. The transformation I experienced both personally and professionally happened slowly, through a lot of trial and error and with the help of many teachers, practitioners and healing modalities. I learned to listen to my body and to slowly make choices to improve my health. There was no magic bullet, no guru and no one moment of truth.
Out of this experience came the awareness that health is a journey and healing is possible, in each of us, in every moment. Healing occurs whenever the body, mind or soul moves into a state of greater balance. My skills as an acupuncturist facilitate this movement in collaboration with my patients.
At Staying in Balance, I not only relieve pain, but also act as a witness to suffering and a guide, showing each patient the path to physical, emotional and spiritual health. My story of COMPLETE RECOVERY from CFS offers hope for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia and other little-understood illnesses.
